When the railway arrived, in 1846, the town experienced more visitors arriving to”take the cure” as sea bathing as it was referred to at that time. Today tourists can travel to Blackpool by air, road or railway arriving there much faster than the Victorian people who could travel for up to 48 hours from Manchester.

Getting To Blackpool And B&B

Blackpool is, as mentioned earlier, very easy to get to these days as you can get to the resort by air, rail or road. Using trains you will, more than likely, be arriving at the main station in Blackpool, which is Blackpool North on Talbot Road. A few minutes away, just a short distance down Talbot Road you will find Blackpool National Express Coach Station, Blackpool’s main bus station. The other rail station, Blackpool South, is at Waterloo Road, South Promenade. Blackpool’s International Airport is found roughly two miles south of the town center and was called, Blackpool Squires Gate Airport, one of Great Britains oldest airports.

Bed & breakfast accommodation in Blackpool is usually fairly cheap. Accommodation is cheaper off season and not so cheap on weekends. Hotels in Blackpool are most expensive at the time of the Blackpool Illuminations, which is really peak season for the town.

A handy tip: Some hotels can suffer from noise especially those located between North Pier and Central Pier. If you would rather somewhere less busy try booking a place past the North Pier.
