We All Have The Ability To Get Six Pack Abs
Why is it that 6 pack abs are so prevalent in magazines and movies, but not so common in the real world. Remember Brad Pitt in Fight Club, or Daniel Craig in “James Bond”? What about Jessica Alba in “Into the Blue”. Do movie stars have a different physiology than normal folks? Of course not! I think the main reason that people don’t have 6 pack abs is that they don’t believe it is possible or realistic for them. Believe me, you can get amazing abs with the proper approach. Yes, just as good as Will Smith in “I Am Legend”.
Lifting a Large Amount of Weight is Not As Impressive as Toned Abs
Don’t be too impressed with the guy who can squat 500+ pounds or the guy who can bench 315 for reps. Seriously, this is much more common than a person with a ripped midsection. There are more people who can run for 1 hour straight than have six pack abs. Can you dunk a basketball? I put that in the same “rare air” as having incredible washboard abs. If you have been working out for a year or so and don’t have 6 pack abs, then you aren’t spending your time properly in the gym.
A Sexy Looking Body Starts With a Great Set Of Abs
The fat around your stomach area is usually the last to go. If you get to the point where your abs are showing, then I guarantee you that the rest of your body looks amazing as well. I believe that this is the reason that people find toned abdominals so sexy…they know that the rest of the body must look toned as well! So if you focus on a 6 pack, everything else will fall into place.
Diet and Cardio Are the Main Key to an Amazing Midsection
Have you ever seen the TV show “Survivor”? By the end of the show almost every contestant has ripped abs. Did they do sit ups? No, they simply have amazing ab definition as a result of low body fat. Low body fat is the key to six pack abs, crunches and sit ups are not. I have not done a single crunch or sit up in 5 years and my abs are ripped. I realized a long time ago that adding 10 more minutes to my cardio got better results than doing a few set of crunches. I don’t recommend going as extreme as “Survivor”, but I hope to change your thinking a bit about what gives you six pack abs. You could listen to the personal trainers in your gym, but do they have ripped abs? Probably not.
Direct Ab Exercises Only Account for Less Than One Tenth of Your Results
I don’t think you need to directly target the abs to get a great mid section, but if you want pick one and hit it for 4-5 sets. The majority of your time should be spent on a bit of lifting for the rest of your body and intense cardio. As far as choices of cardio go, running on a treadmill or running outside is the way to go. Your abs work harder with running, because there is a certain amount of balancing involves between your legs and upper body. If you are on an exercise bike, your abs don’t have to work at all. Your body is being stabilized by the seat.
Summary: I know this sounds almost too simple, but you most likely just need to increase the cardio and decrease the amount of food you consume.
